Smart Reorder Overview

Smart Reorder tells you what to buy today, how much, and from which supplier. It looks at how fast each product sells, how much stock you have and have on order, how long your supplier takes to deliver, and your min/max stock. Then it recommends a quantity for every product, and you can turn the recommendations into purchase orders in one click.

Smart Reorder is available on the Ultimate plan. On other plans, the Smart Reorder menu shows a preview of the feature and a link to upgrade.

What Smart Reorder does

  • Sorts every product into a status: Need to order, Recommended, Healthy, Overstock or No sales. See The Smart Reorder page.
  • Recommends a quantity for each product that needs ordering, rounded to the supplier's pack size and minimum order quantity (MOQ).
  • Picks a supplier and a unit cost for each product.
  • Shows the money at stake: the sales you could lose if you don't order today (Revenue at risk), and what the recommended order would cost (Recommended purchase).
  • Creates purchase orders: tick the products, click Create PO, and you get one PO per supplier. See Create purchase orders from Smart Reorder.
  • Explains every number: the Why? button on each row explains in plain words why the product is in that status, where the quantity comes from, and why that supplier was picked. See Why? explanations.

Getting started

  1. Nothing to turn on. On the Ultimate plan, the app starts syncing your last 90 days of sales by itself. You don't need to enable Sold Qty Tracking in Settings.
  2. Wait for the first sync. Open Smart Reorder in the menu. While the sales history is loading, the page shows Syncing sales history: x of 90 days loaded. This usually takes from a few minutes to a few hours, depending on how many orders you have.
  3. Check the first results. As soon as the sync is complete, recommendations are calculated (within about 15 minutes).
  4. Fine-tune the settings (optional): your default lead time, safety stock and order cycle in Settings > Smart Reorder, each supplier's lead time and order cycle, MOQ and pack size, and min/max stock. See Set up Smart Reorder.
note

For the first 30 days, the page shows Stock history is still being collected. The app can only tell which days a product was out of stock from the day it starts taking stock snapshots, and Shopify doesn't keep this history. Until then, a product that ran out of stock recently may get a slightly lower sales speed than it really has.

When recommendations are updated

  • Automatically: every shop is recalculated at least every 6 hours.
  • On demand: click Recalculate next to Last calculated. Most shops are done in a few seconds. For large catalogs, the page shows the progress (Calculating… x / y products) and reloads by itself when it's done. You can keep working with the previous results in the meantime.
